, the animated feature they produced for Beckett Entertainment has been accepted by and will screen at the Comicpalooza Film Festival in Houston over Memorial Day weekend.
"Gene-Fusion", which will be released by MTI Home Video on May 10th, takes place in the year 2310. A new sport, Gene-Fusion is all the rage! In this exciting game, specially-trained athletes, called Fusers, design their own super-creature by combining three forms of animal DNA... Four teens, seemingly plucked from obscurity, are trained to be Fusers. They become instant celebrities as they perform before sold out crowds. But what they don't know is that each of them has a role to play in an alien conspiracy to take over the world. Only through learning to work together as a team can these four, young heroes take on this alien threat and save the planet from destruction.
The movie was produced by Beckett Entertainment in partnership with POP 6, a Montreal-based animation company. The film is based on Jeff Amano's (Red Warrior) phenomenally successful comic book and the comic book mini-series written by Ivan Brandon, and illustrated by Neil Vokes (Dr Strange: From The Marvel Vault) and inked by Jay Geldhof (Grendel).
The movie was produced by Gabriel Benson (Ballad of Sleeping Beauty, Fade From Grace) and Shaun McLaughlin (Batman Beyond, Ju car news stice League Unlimited) and by François Brisson (Cinar's Les Exploits D'Arsene Lupin (aks Nighthood ) from Benson's script. The film stars Nicolas Canuel (Bluff) , Mark William Hauser, Kaniehtiio Horn (18 to Life, The Trotsky) and Alison Louder (SyFy's Being Human).
Benson and McLaughlin have continued to work together on projects like Cheapjack Shakespeare and The Bullpen which can be seen on their website (www.cheapjackshakespeare.com). They expect to have an announcement to make at the festival, which both producers will attend.
Comicpalooza will be hosted at the George R. Brown Convention Center May 27-29 as a multi-format convention celebrating not just comics, but also sci-fi and fantasy, horror, steam punk, New Media, movies, film, and gaming of all types.

audi Shaun McLaughlin began his career writing "Aquaman" (the non-maimed version) for DC Comics. He went on to write for DC, Malibu, Disney and Dark Horse. In 1994 he moved to Warner Bros. Animation cadillac where he produced over 400 episodes of television (5 Emmy Award Winners) inclu acura ding "Batman Beyond", "Static Shock", and the various incarnations of "Justice League". Besides "Cheapjack Shakespeare", McLaughlin is writing an animated feature for Omens Studios and preparing a live-action feature with Benson.
Gabriel Benson worked on numerous feature films that people might have seen during his years in Hollywood, including a lengthy stint developing Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines. Benson is also the writer of the graphic novels "The Ballad Of Sleeping Beauty," "Fade From Grace" and the animated feature "Gene-Fusion" which will be released in 2010.
