2012 Toyota Camry VS 2012 Hyundai Sonata - Which Would You Rather Drive?

PRLog (Press Release) - Aug 26, 2011 - Sure, there are more factors to a new car than just looks alone, but let's face it, looks help.  And, one can also argue that "beauty is in the eye of the beholder". However, when was the last time you turned your head to look at the silver Ford Taurus driving down the road?  

The "All New" 2012 Toyota Camry goes on sale October 3, 2011.  With Toyota battling external factors such as the affects of recession, an earthquake, an unfavorable currency exchange, and, of course, their recall crisis, the manufacturer has decided to play it safe.

The 2012 Toyota Camr chrysler y has not changed its dimensions at all; same size front to back, top to bottom.  The body panels have only mild changes, and the powertrain (with the exception of the new hybrid) is just a carry over from p aston martin revious years.

No doubt, the 2012 Toyota Camry will still be in the top of the mid-size segment.  After all, Toyota builds nice, quality cars, no question about it.  But, with changes in the market, competitors, such as Hyundai, building completely redesigned models with more power and better fuel efficiency, Toyota can simply not rest on its laurels.

The 2012 Hyundai Sonata, http://www.gartnerhyundai.com/hyundai-sonata  for example, starts out $1,260 less at $21,455.  And, just like the Camry L, the Sonata GLS includes:  Automatic Transmission, Blue Tooth, AM/FM with CD and USB port, Tire Pressure Monitoring, Cruise, Tilt and Telescoping Steering Wheel, and Power Windows, Locks, and Mirrors.  However, the 2012 Hyundai Sonata also adds:  Steering Wheel Radio Controls, Sirius XM Radio, a more powerful 2.4L inline 4 cylinder engine with 198 hp (vs. 178 on the Toyota), and the All New Blue Link Telematics System (a hybrid of GM's Onstar and The Ford Sync Program).  

And don't forget, all Hyundai's come standard with America's Best Warranty...5 years or 60,000 miles Bumper to Bumper, 10 years or 100,000 miles Powertrain, and 5 years Roadside Assistance.  A far cry from Toyota's standard 3 years or 36,000 miles.

The Hyundai Sonata has been winning awards like crazy, including the coveted, 2011 International Car of the Year.  Additionally, Sonata sales at Gartner Hyundai in Aurora, IL are at an all time high. Final Two Illustrators Narrowed Down -----WINNER will be chosen by Lee League himself on 9/9/2011

Look at the 2011 Mazda MX-5 Miata head-on, and the grille and headlights sort of resemble a big grinning face. With good reason: Since it was introduced as a 1990 model, the Miata (Mazda tried to use the global MX-5 name exclusively, but gave up when Americans wouldn bmw 't stop calling it a Miata) has faced down multiple challengers.

As it did when the car was introduced, the Miata once again has this narrow but lucrative little segment of the market all to itself.

So what cars have come and gone? Challengers include the Mercury Capri, which was built in Australia but had a Mazda engine. Toyota brought back, and then dropped, the MR-2. General Motors took aim at the Miata with the Pontiac Solstice and Saturn Sky, and came the closest to hitting the mark, but the good-looking cars were rushed into production, and weren't around long enough to earn the refinement they deserved. Sure, there have been pricier alternatives such as the Porsche Boxster and Lotus Elise, but those are outside the budget of most Miata customers.

General Motors Corp. It doesn't hurt that the Miata has proven to be, from day one, astoundingly reliable. Mazda got the Miata right from the beginning, and unlike most vehicles that have been in production for over 20 years, there are no "bad" Miata models to avoid. You can find a serviceable used one for under $3,000, parts are plentiful and comparatively inexpensive, and Miata owners are among the most helpful there are when it comes to schooling fellow owners.

Arguably the most important aspect of all this, to Mazda at least, is how the Miata has gathered loyal customers under the brand's umbrella. So many of them stick with the brand if they need a four-door, moving to the Mazda3 or Mazda6, or if they need an affordable minivan, the Mazda5. And Mazda has kept its part of the bargain by offering sedans and even minivans that emphasize a fun-to-drive level that exceeds the competition, which appeals to a customer moving over from a Miata. And Mazda's presence in amateur road racing and autocross is the largest of any manufacturer, and the company supports its racers with incentives, technical help and even prize money.

The base model still gets you air conditioning, power windows and a good six-speaker sound audi system.

Inside, the Miata's instruments and controls are easy to use and the seats are comfortable, but there has never been any argument that space is pretty auto part tic.com/category/alfa-romeo">alfa romeo tight. The trunk is small but useful, something that you couldn't say about the Solstice, Sky or MR-2. Handling is delightful!

As a daily commuter, though, the Miata is one of the best friends you can have, especially if you can find a few winding roads on the way home. Your smile is likely to match the one on the Miata's grille.

Opal fuel - quality and performance tested

PRLog (Press Release) - Aug 17, 2011 - Petrol sniffing is a highly dangerous form of substance abuse and destroys lives. Opal fuel which is a direct substitute for regular unleaded 91, has been specially designed to help discourage petrol sniffing.

Manufactured by BP Australia, Opal fuel was introduced to the Australian market in 2005. Designed with lower levels of aromatics; the properties associated with giving petrol sniffers a 'high,' Opal fuel meets all the specifications of the National Fuels Quality Standard Act 2000. A combination of laboratory and field tests undertaken since 2005 indicate that Opal fuel is safe for use in cars and boats in which the manufacturer recommends regular unleaded 91. Details of the testing and results observed are outlined in this fact sheet.

Laboratory testing on vehicles - 2004 As with all BP fuel products, thorough testing and control processes were undertaken to ensure the quality and performance of Opal fuel prior to its launch in 2005. This included independent laboratory testing at the Toyota Vehicle and Engine Testing Laboratory in Melbourne in October 2004. Three tests were undertaken on a Toyota Avalon 3.0 litre Automatic, a Ford Falcon Futura 4.0 litre Automatic and a Holden Commodore 3.5 litre Automatic.

Driveability test The driveability test me chevrolet asures the operation of a vehicle as perceived by a driver. It consists of assigning demerit points to vehicle performance characteristics that can be attributed to the fuel and that are not an acceptable part of vehicle operation. The three cars were driven on Opal fuel by trained assessors and demerit points were assigned for noted performance issues. At the end of the test the points were tallied and compared to the points recorded by the same assessors driving the same cars on regular unleaded 91. The report found that there was no significant difference between a vehicle running on Opal fuel and the same vehicle running on regular unleaded 91.

Tailpipe emissions Using ADR 79/00; the standard testing design rule for measuring tailpipe emissions; Opal fuel was compared to regular unleaded 91. Emissions me rc helicopter and car market place asured were unburnt hydrocarbons (HC), carbon monoxide (CO) and oxides of Nitrogen (NOx). Using the average of three runs, the tailpipe exhaust emissions for a vehicl chrysler e running on Opal fuel were equal to or less than the tailpipe emissions of the same vehicle running on regular unleaded 91. The only exception was the Avalon which showed an increase in NOx. There are exhaust emission benefits from using Opal fuel. Overall, the cars that were run on Opal fuel tested lower for regulated exhaust emissions.

Impact on air quality When vehicle exhaust air toxics were calculated using the USA EPA air toxics indicator model, air toxics were reduced by 45% when using Opal fuel when compared with using regular unleaded 91. Because of its formulation acura with less than 5% total of benzene, toluene, xylene and olefins, Opal burns very cleanly when compared to regular unleaded 91, helping to reduce air toxics. Typical vehicle exhaust air toxics indices for regular unleaded 91 are 19-22. Opal fuel showed 9-12, a reduction of 45% versus regular unleaded 91.

Fuel economy in cars Opal was tested for fuel economy in line with the testing standard ADR 81/01, and compared to regular unleaded 91. Testing showed a minor decrease in fuel economy in cars between Opal fuel versus regular unleaded 91. However the reported variation of 0.3 litres per 100km is within the normal variability for petrol grades and can vary depending on car maintenance and driving styles.

PRLog (Press Release) - Aug 17, 2011 - Automotive research and consulting firm AutoPacific named the Hyundai Elantra and Hyundai Azera 2011 Ideal Vehicle Award (IVA) winners in their respective categories. aston martin  In the Compact Car category, the Hyundai Elantra beat out top rivals by a large margin including the Ford Focus, Mazda 3, Chevrolet Cruze, and Volkswagen Jetta.  The Hyundai Azera topped the Toyota Avalon, Ford Taurus and chevrolet Dodge Charger in the Large Car segment.  Overall, Hyundai scored second in the Popular Brand rankings, trailing only Chrysler.

Additionally, three other Hyundai models made the Ideal Vehicle ranks: the Sonata finished second in the Premium Mid-Size Car ferrari segment, the Genesis Coupe earned fourth in the Sporty Car segment and the Accent ranked fourth in the Economy Car segment.

AutoPacific's 2011 Ideal Vehicle Awards are based on 72,000 surveys completed by owners of new cars and light trucks in the United States in the first half of 2011.  The IVAs measure the fusion between owner expectations and the reality provided by the manufacturer by quantitatively measuring how closely a vehicle matches those expectations.  To determine the winners, owners rate their new car or truck on how close it came to "ideal" in 15 different categories ranging from power and acceleration to safety features and storage.  The vehicles that customers said the car news y would change the least were considered the most "ideal."

Whilst many have believed Corn and other grasses such as Switchgrass to be the largest yield generating crops available, Miscanthus Giganteus has been behind the scenes producing more than 2 ½ times the ethanol of corn and yielding 2-4 times more dried tonnes than Switchgrass.

Miscanthus Giganteus produces an average yield of 20 MT/ha compared to 5.78 MT/ha for Switchgrass. The comparative productivity of the two crops has shown Miscanthus Giganteus produces more than twice the biomass of Switchgrass. Mature stands of Miscanthus Giganteus averaged 48.3 TDM/ha (2.3 SE) representing an energy conversion efficiency of 1.3 - 2.0% of incident solar radiation to biomass, while Switchgrass produced 15.3 TMD/ha (2.8 SE), a conversion efficiency of 00.6 - 0.85%. acura
